It is possible, if you have the will to do.
Sometime it feels so far, enlightenment is so far to reach. But you know, a good day is not that far to reach. That’s why daily practice is important.
I always give example, when I came to this country, one of our Center members, Stephanie, was teaching me how to type. Goal is to type without looking at keyboard.
I could not even find the key, so now you’re telling me to type without looking at the keyboard? That sounds impossible. But there’s some technique to do, you don’t type like this after a few days. First you have to learn how to put your finger there, then you practice. It takes a long time.
I’m sure Stephanie felt discouraged teaching me. Then because of her love, and compassion, patience, and she just want me to succeed.
At the monastery, we never had computer. Can you imagine, someone who never touched computer, that goal is like – how you do? Impossible. You have no courage. Then slowly, slowly – now, it is possible, if you have will to do.
Stephanie cannot give you her talent for typing without looking at the keyboard. What she can do, she can teach you, step by step. That’s exactly what Shakyamuni Buddha is doing, teaching us step by step,
For now, for us, it seems unreachable, something that Lama Tsongkhapa reached, Lama Atisha reached. Now they are teaching us: it is possible. That’s how you reach – not right away, like typing. That is result of your practice, your interest, your motivation to practice, and the teacher know how to type.
If your teacher doesn’t even know how to find the keyboard, you probably can’t reach to that level where you can type without looking at the keyboard. You rely on teacher who already did, who already knows how. She is convinced you can do.
She did it, you can do. Now she teach you. She will not give up on you because she knows you can do.
